Project Runt: Our Suzuki GSX-R1000K1 (Part 1)

What's 15-years old and cost less than £1,500?

Our project Runt, that's what.

We have got some big plans for this GSX-R but only have a small budget, so we'll be doing our best to get value for money from every change we make.

Our starting point is a 30-odd thousand mile bike that's already had a few mods chucked at it.

The most obvious change and biggest improvement already in place is the GSX-R1000K4 forks and brakes; the original forks and those Tokico six-pot calipers are long gone, what an excellent start.

Our plan is to create a bike that's capable of holding its own against newer bikes, and to see if we manage this we'll be off to some track day events and even plan to roll up at Santa Pod to see how fast our Runt can cover the hallowed 1/4 mile in.

Before that we've got plenty to do, first up is to sort an exhaust silencer out. I've a lead on used Vance & Hines alloy silencer, hopefully Part 2 of the Runt files will involve us fitting it!?
